NFPA Launches “NEC Changes” with Over 500 Changes Made Accessible for Smartphones
With the 2011 edition of the National Electrical Code® (NEC) now available, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has launched a new smartphone application, NEC Changes, which highlights changes between the 2008 NEC® and the 2011 NEC®. More than 500 updates and modifications, all accessible through smartphones, are provided free of charge. "As online technologies have increasingly become the primary tool for accessing information and resources, NFPA has steadily worked to proactively meet the industry's changing needs and requirements," says Andy Wandell, NFPA's division director of marketing and sales. "The NEC Changes app serves as the next step in offering smartphone services to users, making 2011NEC updates easier than ever to identify and review." necplus® is the online subscription to the NEC, providing access to the most current and comprehensive electrical information. The NEC Changes app builds on these technological advances by making the latest NEC updates and modifications accessible through smartphones. "This new app is an innovative, handy tool for practitioners in the field who would like to verify a code change, and we're confident it will serve them well," says Mark Earley, chief electrical engineer, NFPA's engineering division.
