Fire Training Resources Firefighter Development Symposium Date: February 12 and 13, 2010 Time: 8am to 5pm Location: Holiday Inn Select Downtown, St. Louis, Missouri Cost: $85.00 each day or $150.00 for both days Registration deadline January 22nd Friday February 12th 7am to 8am - Registration 8am to 12pm - "Wind Driven Fires" Presented by Battalion Chiefs Pete Van Dorpe and Keith Witte, Chicago Fire Department 12pm to 1:30pm - Lunch 1:30pm to 5pm - "Duty-Pride-Tradition" Presented by Chief (Ret.) J.P. "Mac" McCastland, Oak Lawn (IL) Fire Department and Deputy District Chief (Ret.) Edmund Enright, Chicago Fire Department This segment will center on the concept of similarities that are found both on the Fireground and the Battleground. In both arenas strong leadership is the key to a successful operation; this leadership can be at any level of the company. Using a series of photos and personal beliefs, the presenters will instill DUTY – PRIDE and TRADITION as words to be included in the personal ethos of the audience. Saturday February 13th 7am to 8am - Registration 8am to 12pm - "Firefighting Strategy and Tactics" Presented by Deputy Chief (Ret.) Vincent Dunn, FDNY This full day training program examines in detail offensive and defensive firefighting strategy and tactics for the seven different occupancies listed below. Size-up, hose line positioning, aerial and ground ladder placement, interior and exterior fire spread problems, ventilation principles, search and rescue techniques, collapse-explosion-flashover dangers; and most important safety and survival on the fire ground will be studied. This firefighting strategy and tactic session will apply all of the above tactics to the following occupancies:Private Dwelling Fires, Strip Store Fires, Row Dwelling Fires, Garden Type Dwelling Fires, Heavy Timber Factory Fires, Wood Triple Decker Fires, High Rise Firefighting 12pm - 1:30pm - Lunch 1:30pm - 5pm - "Firefighting Strategy and Tactics" Continued
