Akron Brass manufactures high performance products engineered for fire suppression and emergency response needs.  One of their newest offerings is the ZT Zero Torque fire nozzle, which reduces strain on firefighters and improves safety and efficiency.

The new ZT nozzle features an ergonomic design different from everyday pistol nozzles. In a recent interview with FDNNTV.com, Randy Smith an Akron representative explains the difference in the two nozzles. He says that the S-shape ZT nozzle allows everything to be in line with the reaction force, while pistol grip nozzles tend to kick up when being used, because the reaction force is not in line.

When in use, the pistol grip nozzle is held against the body. This creates strain in the forearm, hand, and wrist. Firefighters must also use their bodies to resist torque. The ZT nozzle is designed to be held in front of the body, where there is more control. The hand and wrist sit at a natural position, which reduces strain, as firefighters must only deal with straight reaction force.

Akron Brass Company sells the ZT Zero Torque nozzle for $750. For more information and to find a dealer near you visit www.akronbrass.com.
