Early Morning Fire Damages Clackamas Business

At 4:44 this morning Clackamas Fire Crews were distpatched to a report of a commercial fire in the area of 82nd Avenue and Cornwell Street in Happy Valley. Units arrived to the Kendall Market at 8635 SE 82nd Avenue to find 15-20 foot flame lengths from behind the structure with heavy black smoke banked down to the floor inside the building.

Engine One and other arriving units quickly went to work pulling hoselines and extinguishing the fire. Crews were able to get a quick knockdown on the fire, confining it to the exterior of the structure and the smoke in the building was determined to be as a result of the exterior fire. The smoke was easily evacuated from the building using high pressure ventilation fans. Portland Fire and Rescue responded and assisted Clackamas Fire units to extinguish this fire. Clackamas Fire District #1 Investigators are on scene now and will be conducting their investigation. There were no injuries reported and damage estimates are not available at this time.
